Menopause women's health

How the menopause affects women’s health and wellbeing

Menopause is a natural phase of a person’s life as menstruation finishes, which occurs at around 40-50 years old. The experience is individual, and can be associated with symptoms such as hot flashes, mood changes, and changes to the body. Due to the decline in hormones (oestrogen and progesterone), there are physiological and biological changes including loss of bone mass, change in metabolism, change in weight/ body composition. While these hormonal changes are inevitable, it is essential to look after yourself while going through these changes, regardless of the severity of symptoms.

How can MG Osteopathy help?

We can teach and guide you on how to exercise to suit your body during, and beyond menopause. We can also advise you on how to look after yourself and live optimally with these changes. Diet, supplements, and exercise all play a role in helping relieve symptoms, and helping to maintain bone and muscle mass despite the hormonal changes occurring. In addition, hands-on osteopathy treatment aims to relax muscles and joints, reduce stress, and recalibrate the body in order to allow it to self-heal.
