What is Cranial Osteopathy?

Despite the name, Cranial Osteopathy is a whole-body treatment. It is a subtle and refined branch of osteopathic medicine that focuses on the body’s involuntary motion—a rhythmic pulse found in all living tissues.

Our osteopaths use a highly developed sense of touch to feel for these subtle rhythms. When a person is healthy, these rhythms move freely. However, due to injury, stress, or birth trauma, these rhythms can become “congested” or restricted, leading to pain and dysfunction.

How Does It Work?

Think of it as a “manual tuning” for your nervous system. By applying very specific, soft-touch pressure to the skull, spine, and tailbone, the osteopath helps the body release deep-seated tensions.

The “Soft Touch”: Unlike traditional osteopathy which may involve “cracking” joints, the pressure used in cranial work is incredibly light.

The Goal: To trigger the body’s own self-healing mechanism, shifting the nervous system from a “stressed” state into a “restorative” state.

Is It Right For You?

Because the technique is so gentle, it is the treatment of choice for patients who are:

Highly Sensitive: People in acute pain where heavy pressure is impossible.

Searching for a Holistic Approach: Those who want to treat the root cause of chronic fatigue or stress, rather than just the symptoms.
