Performance in most sports is determined by the athlete’s technical, tactical, physiological and psychological/social characteristics. In the present article, the physical aspect will be evaluated with a focus on what limits performance, and how training can be conducted to improve performance.
 
Sports performance has four major dimensions: skill, strength, endurance, and recovery (Fig. 24-1). High performance in any sport requires a characteristic blend of these dimensions, although individual sports differ widely in that balance.
 
Sports are a crucial part of a student’s growth and development. They help in the development of mental health and physical fitness of the body. Through participation in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality.
